France Talent Passport for Skilled Professionals

France's Talent Passport

The Talent Passport (Passeport Talent) is France's flagship residence permit for skilled international professionals, covering 10 categories — including qualified employees, highly skilled workers, and researchers — all under one streamlined system, with a single permit valid for up to 4 years and renewable.

Your spouse gets full work rights immediately through the accompanying "Talent – Family" permit, letting them work or run their own business from day one, with no separate work permit needed. Your children can join and go to school under the same family permit.

There are different tracks depending on your background — an experienced employee, a highly qualified specialist, or a researcher joining a French university or lab. Most professional fields, including engineering, IT, business, finance, and academia, have a track that fits.

If you hold a relevant degree or strong work experience in your field, this is one of the more stable, long-term paths into France. Let's figure out which track fits you.

How the Tracks Differ
  • Qualified Employee track fits most professional jobs — engineers, IT specialists, marketing managers, consultants, and similar roles

  • Highly Qualified Employee (EU Blue Card) track is for more senior or specialized roles, with a higher salary threshold

  • Researcher track replaces a job offer with a hosting agreement from a French university, lab, or research institution

  • Family applications can run in parallel — you don't need to wait for your own permit to be approved first
